TEC - The Executive
Committee - is an international organization of more than 12,000 CEO's
and Presidents of growth-oriented businesses.
It is the largest
and longest established CEO membership organization in the world.
Its members meet
monthly in small groups to exchange ideas and information, share their
experience and expertise and help each other tackle the challenges and
opportunities of running their businesses.
Peter Buchanan,
President of Mangement Transitions Limited, formed the first TEC groups
in Eastern Canada in 1987. Since that time, we are proud to have been
part of the growth and development of a broad range of businesses in
virtually every industrial sector.

Why CEOs and Presidents Join TEC
Our members tell us that the benefits they derive are many and varied. Most would fall into one of the following broad categories.
- Improved Decision Making
Most CEOs wrestle with issues which cannot be discussed with staff, friends or other business people.
TEC provides a talented, experienced and supportive peer group where any and all issues may be discussed in a totally confidential environment. The group and the chair act as a sounding board that fosters lateral thinking and extra input, so that the best ideas can be honed and applied by each member to their greatest business advantage.
- Increased Accountability: A Commitment to Action
As CEO, you ensure that those who work with you are held accountable. But who holds you accountable in a supportive and helpful way? A TEC group and chair maintain a strong emphasis on follow-through and implementation of actions committed to by members, ensuring that the key targets are achieved and results are measured and assessed.
- Personal and Professional Growth
How many times have you thought that you should attend a conference or seminar, then found that you couldn't get there for any one of a thousand reasons? TEC overcomes this by bringing the seminar to the members. Each group works through its own chosen program of topics.
The groups have workshops on major business topics, such as strategic planning, marketing, finance, the latest employment laws, leadership and a wide range of other people and relationship issues. Also, several times a year, members focus on personal issues like stress management, personal finance and balancing their business and personal lives.
- Overcoming Isolation
Many CEOs experience a sense of isolation that can limit the rewards and challenges of the position. It can be very lonely at the top.
TEC provides a supportive peer group, where members can "discuss the undiscussable", helping to reduce the stress associated with this level of responsibility.
- Networking Nationally and Internationally
TEC has more than 12,000 members in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. Members are encouraged to network with members locally and around the world, and every TEC office facilitates the interchange of ideas and information between members wherever they are located.
Members visiting another city or country are encouraged to attend local TEC meetings and to make contact with members from their own and other industries.
TEC Online, a members-only Web site, provides intant communication around the world. Group and industry-specific forums encourage continuous dialogue between meetings and ensure that TEC members enjoy the benefits of a truly global community.
